$50 for 4 discs

What could be cooler than playing your first round of disc golf, on one the best courses in the country, with plastic made right here in the Capital?

For more information, or to get your hands on some the newest plastic on the market, contact info@odgc.ca; ask for a Jeff.

Big Brothers/Big Sisters playing disc golf

On Sunday May 5th, the ODGC will be hosting a tournament for the Big Brothers/Big Sisters, at the Kanata Disc Golf Course. All Big Brothers/Big Sisters in the region are invited (invitations have been sent to BBBS Ottawa and GFGS Outaousis).

This free event will be about 3 hours (1/2 hour instructions/demo plus about 2 hours of play). It will be alternating shot (big/little). The event will start at 1pm.

The ODGC will provide the disc golf discs (there are different discs for driving, approaching and putting). Participants should wear appropriate footwear and clothing for walking and throwing discs in a park.

Cleaning the Capital – Beaverbrook Disc Golf Park

The Ottawa Disc Golf Club will be participating in the Tim Hortons Cleaning the Capital, on Sunday April 28th, by cleaning up our disc golf course in Beaverbrook Park, Kanata.

Come out and demonstrate community pride by cleaning up our fairways, rough, and woods, “while enjoying the outdoors and ensuring that Ottawa stays clean, green, graffiti and litter-free.” (Cleaning the Capital)

Huge thanks to Andrew Kauffmann who organized this community building activity for the ODGC.

The clean-up will start up at 9 am.

The Mudslide at the Cove

Alcove

The tournament directors of the Mud Slide at the Cove are crazy.

On April 14, 2013, they want you to play TWO rounds, in ONE day, at Alcove Disc Golf Course.

Situated in the most breathtaking disc golf environment you could imagine, the Stacie Sivyer designed Alcove Disc Golf Course will put your disc golf game to the test. Its holes command a full bag of tricks. The lines are awe-inspiring; greens are nasty; danger is abundant; and, the Orpheus like tonals can be heard singing across the topography. Awesome. There really is nothing like it.

And it might be the most demanding walk you’ll carry your bag on.

Two rounds. One day. A true player vs. course.

I take it back. They’re not crazy…you are; if you aren’t there.

2012-2013 ODGC Ice League

Disc golf in the winter you say? It’s snow joke.

Every Saturday, from November until February, disc golfers of all ages and skill, will be throwing ribboned-frisbees on some of the best courses in the National Capital Region. It’s a great way to get out and enjoy the colder months, stay in form for the summer season, and to help out the Ottawa Food Bank.

This year marks the 12th Annual Ottawa Ice Bowl which will be held at the Kanata Disc Golf Course, on February 9th, 2013. The ODGC, through the Ice Bowl and Ice League, has been raising money and food for the Food Bank for 12 years.

The start times and locations for Ice League vary, so be sure to check the schedule that is updated on a regular basis here;
