In 2011 the Certified Officials exam will undergo some changes and will impact a larger portion of the PDGA membership. Below is a series of common questions that the PDGA office has received. If you have any further questions please don't hesitate to contact the PDGA Office at (706) 261-6342 or office@pdga.com.

Q: Who has to take the PDGA Certified Officials Exam?
A: Tournament Directors of PDGA Sanctioned events are required to be a Certified Official. Starting in 2011 passing the Official's Exam is now required for all amateurs and professional competitors playing in a National Tour Elite Series or PDGA Major event.

Q: Is the exam for being a PDGA Certified Official the same as the PDGA Rules Proficiency Exam required for National Tour events in 2010?
A: The Board approved the elimination of the PDGA Rules Proficiency Exam and replaced it with the PDGA Certified Officials Exam. Once you pass the exam you will be considered a PDGA Certified Official and be issued a PDGA Certified Officials Card.

Q: If I am currently a Certified Official will I need to take the exam again?
A: In 2011 all Certified Officials will be required to re-test. After passing the exam your certification will be good for three years.

Q:Is there a cost for the PDGA Certified Officials Exam?
A: There is a US$10 fee for all persons required to take the PDGA Certified Officials Exam. Tournament Directors of a 2011 PDGA Sanctioned Event will be allowed to take the exam free of charge.

Q: How long is the Certified Official's Exam score good for?
A: The PDGA Certified Officials Exam certification is good for three years, unless otherwise noted by the PDGA Board due to a major rules revision.

Q:When will the PDGA Certified Officials Exam be made available to take on-line, and will it be available in other languages than English?
A: The PDGA Certified Officials Exam will be an on-line examination, and will be available at pdga.com in early January 2011. It will be initially offered in English, and will become available in other languages as our international partners complete the translation of the exam.

Q: What if I don't pass the exam the first time? How many times can I take the exam?
A: You may take the exam an unlimited number of times until an acceptable score of 80% is achieved.

Q: Is the exam timed, or is it open book?
A: The test is not timed, and is open book. The subject matter will cover both the 2011 PDGA Official Rules of Play and the 2011 PDGA Competition Manual.

Q: Who can I contact if I still have questions.
A: Please call the PDGA Office at (706) 261-6342 or office@pdga.com.
